 Information

The Wolseley Hornet Special was produced between 1932 and 1934. The standard Hornet versions were already in production from the year 1930. The Wolseley Hornet was designed upon a modified Morris Minor chassis.
The Hornet Special was equipped with a 1271 cc. six-cylinder

The engine was equipped with two S.U. carburettors, high compression pistons and duplex valve-coil springs (to cope with the higher maximum engine speed). The Hornet Special engine produced 47 bhp. giving the car a top speed of approximately 80 mph. Additionally the Special was equipped with a stronger front axle and larger drum brakes; the Special was equipped with 12" drum brakes all round.
This particular Wolseley Hornet Special, presented by Altena Classic Service, is "Old number five". Six Hornet Specials were factory built/ modified for race and rally use. Number five was built in 1933 and factory-prepared for racing in 1934. The car was modified by adding an oil cooler, special pistons and an automatic sump-oil filler. Between the years 1934 and 1941 number five competed successfully in numerous British motoring competitions.

This beauty came to The Netherlands 28 years ago. The first Dutch owner had the car for 18 years. During those years the car was restored with respect for originality over a 3 year period. We sold the car previously in 2001. The Wolseley Hornet special is a scarce car, only 2307 were built. This Wolseley Hornet special drives delightful and the six cylinder sound is fantastic!
