The Rolls
Royce Silver Cloud series was presented in the year 1955. The Silver
Cloud I saloon was the first representative of the Silver Cloud series
series. In the year 1959 the six cylinder Silver Cloud I was succeeded
by the Silver Cloud II which featured a new, almost completely silent,
V8 engine. From this moment on the factory also built Drop Head Coupe
models (DHC) of the Silver Cloud series.
In the year 1962 the last Silver Cloud model saw the light of day: the
Silver Cloud III. The Cloud III sported a re-designed front with lower
bonnet, wings and grille and new head lamp clusters with quad headlamps.
The fine 6230 cc. V8 engine was carried over unchanged.
Parallel to the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud series the automobile was also
sold with the Bentley badge and grille: the Bentley S series.
The Silver cloud III was built until 1965, 2044 saloon models and 294
Long Wheel Base (LWB) versions as presented here.
