Body restoration of a Triumph TR 6

Return to the restorations overview page

This Triumph TR 6 was brought to our care in October 2001 with right-front damage, caused by a traffic accident. The front wing, bumper and headlamp were lost and the right front suspension was broken.

The car shows heavy rust damage to the sills underneath the front wings and also traces of corrosion to the rear wings so the owner decided to have the car partially restored by
Piet Mozes Restorations.
After inspection, estimating the expected costs and informing the owner (who wants a clean driver instead of a competition condition classic) we decided to have the car undergo a "body on*" bodywork restoration. (*This means the body will not be taken off the chassis. This way a lot of work and expenses will be saved). This decision could only be taken because the chassis is in immaculate condition.
This Triumph TR 6 was bought a few years ago advertised as a "rust free Californian import car"...what we found stripping the car was dramatic; copper welded sheet over bad parts and lots of filler...

What was be carried out on this TR 6;  The interior floor panels and sills are renewed. All wings, booth lid, rear deck and the entire rear side are renewed.
First all bad body parts were removed and the good metal was  extensively treated anti-corrosion. The metalwork was carried out, old paint layers were removed and the body was smoothened, painted and shielded against rust.
The car was rebuilt by the owner in our workshop with our advise and help when needed. All new body- and other parts used in this restoration were delivered by Imparts. The entire project took six months to be completed.

Do not hesitate to contact us in case you are planning to
have your own Triumph TR fully or partly restored...
to perfection...
