In the year 1959 the Alfa Romeo Giulietta SS saw the light of day, the first Bertone Giulietta SS prototype dated from 1957.
A beautiful "Sport speciale" based on Giulietta technology.
The car was designed and built by carrosseria Bertone. The Giulietta SS was powered by a 1290 cc. four-cylinder engine giving a power output of 100 bhp. The bodywork was a unitary steel structure and part was aluminum alloy paneled. Transmission took place through a five speed gearbox with floor-shift bringing the engine-power to the rear wheels. The light car had very good brakes, disks at front, drums at the rear..
From 1962 on the car was sold as Giulia SS. The engine was up rated to 1570 cc. giving 112 bhp. and the same top speed of 125 mph. (200 km/h.) The Giulietta/ Giulia SS was a very expensive car. In 1964 the car was priced at Euro 11.000,--
Production ceased in the year 1966.
