Ferry Porsche
and Prof. Eberan von Eberhorst started project 356 in the year 1947 in
an old sawmill in Gmünd. Ferry's father Ferdinand Porsche was still
imprisoned in France under suspicion of war crimes so he did not witness
the start of the project. In August 1947 Ferdinand Porsche was found not
guilty and was released from prison. In march 1948 the first prototype
was finished; the356-001. The Porsche
356 shows a long evolution. The 356 was built from 1948 until 1965 in
the following model stages: 4 cylinder
boxer engine Porsche 356 B 1600 Super coupe, year 1961. Colour white with red stripe. Interior with black rally seats, black carpet and red door-panels. This fantastic Porsche 356 B 1600 Super was sold new in the USA. In the 1990'ies the automobile was extensively restored by Bob Hahn, invoices and photo's of the restoration are present. In the year 2010 the engine was rebuilt as was the gearbox. The car is very extensively documented! This Porsche is in superb (excellent+) condition! The 356 was prepared to participate in historic (touring) rallies. The bumpers were deleted, special sports seats were fitted and disc brakes were fitted to the front wheels. Further more a Trip Master, stopwatch, additional driving lamps and a Nardi steering wheel were fitted. All these alterations can be reversed to original, the parts are present. In 2012 an official rally check was conducted by 'Porsche Centrum Leusden'. This magnificent Porsche drives and feels fantastic! This
