Information

The Porsche 912 was introduced in the year 1965 as an alternative for the expensive Porsche 911. De 912 was technically identical to the 911 except for the engine. Instead of the air-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine the 912 was equipped with the 1582 cc. air-cooled four-cylinder boxer engine which was formerly used in the Porsche 356 SC.
Weighing only 995 kilogram's the 912 was 100 kg. lighter than the 911. The 90 DIN hp. engine was also powerful enough to turn the 912 into a fast car with a top-speed of 185 km/h.
The Porsche 912 came in two versions; the Coupe- and the Targa model.
The Porsche 912 was fitted with disc brakes all round. A dual circuit brake system was introduced on the 1967 models. A four speed gearbox was standard equipment on the Porsche 912 but optionally a five speed gearbox was available until 1968.
