Bentley Mk VI Drophead Coupe, 1950

Photo overview  -  Technical data  -  Information

The famous Bentley make, erected by Mr. W.O. Bentley, existed as a independent firm for only twelve years (1919-1931) before the proud firm was taken over by the Rolls Royce motor company.
Those twelve exhilarating Bentley years were filled with racing successes and many victories. The Bentley name as manufacturer of large, heavy, powerful and rugged sportscars was imprinted in the human mind since the "roaring" twenties of the twentieth century.
Bentley motorcars won the famous 24 hours of Le Mans race in the years 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929 and 1930. The years they did not win the race they finished second or third.
Not only successes at Le Mans were counted but also many victories in the Brooklands 500 mile race.

Information

Bentley Mk VI Drophead coupe, year 1950. Chassis number B397BT. Engine number B198G. Colour blue metallic with a beige leather interior. Beige mohair hood and hood cover. This Bentley Mk VI DHC is in superb (excellent++) condition!
This fabulous Bentley Mk VI with special Drophead coupe bodywork was delivered new in Australia. This Mk VI came from the factory with a 4-door Park Ward saloon body.
In the 1970'ies the automobile has been given the fantastic DHC bodywork by a French bodywork specialist. The work was carried out to the highest standards of craftsmanship. This is the most beautiful Bentley Mk VI we ever saw. The lines of the wings and the tail section are absolutely magnificent as is the shape of the car with hood closed. The front is also very special with chrome headlamp bowls sculpted into the front wings. This Bentley combines high class smooth operating 1950'ies mechanics with the styling and 'chic' of the prewar coach built 'Grand Routiers'. This fine Bentley Mk VI was imported to the Netherlands in January 1980. The last owner had the automobile restored in several steps. Photo's and invoices of the restoration are present. This fine automobile drives, sounds and looks stunning: a one of a kind Bentley
Mk VI DHC.
