Information

The year 1960 saw the introduction of a new leaf in the Lancia tree; the Lancia Flavia. For the Flavia Lancia saw a position between the smaller Lancia Appia series and the larger Lancia Flaminia series. The birth of the Lancia Flavia introduced front wheel driven cars to the Lancia stable. By choosing the front wheel drive concept Lancia was able to build the Flavia less complex than the other model series like the Flaminia.

Innovative, complex, state-of-the-art constructions used by Lancia since 1922 made the cars very expensive. Now was the time to make an excellent car but also to get a grip on the costs to introduce the Flavia for a competitive price.
The Lancia Flavia was fitted with a beam rear axle and independent front suspension. The the car has disc brakes all round and a two circuit hydraulic brake system.
The following Lancia Flavia models were introduced between 1960 and 1963:
Lancia Flavia Berlina (1960-1966), the Lancia Flavia Coupe (1962-1968), the Lancia Flavia Convertible (1962-1969) and the Lancia Flavia Sport Zagato (1963-1967).

Information

Lancia Flavia Sport Zagato, year 1963. Body colour Grigio Inglewood with a red leather interior and grey carpet. This fantastic Lancia Flavia Sport Zagato is in excellent condition. This is a very special and rare automobile. Only 625 Sport Zagato cars have been built. The body is hand built from aluminium by Zagato and mated with the advanced Lancia flavia 'platform' featuring independent suspension, disc brakes all round and a delightful four cylinder boxer engine.
What makes this Lancia Zagato special is the magnificent history and the accompanying documentation. From new the car has been owned for 48 years (!) by a female opera singer who lived in Italy and later in France. In 2011 the car was purchased by a Dutch collector who retained the old French registration. The car comes beautifully documented with the original purchase invoice, factory correspondence, old service invoices, hand books and invoices concerning the recent restoration. The original bumpers and hub caps where not fitted for the owner likes the current sporty looks (these items are present). A very special and remarkable Zagato creation!
