In the 1920 'ies Singer was the third ranked motor car factory based on sales figures. Austin and Morris took first and second place. The development of the Singer Nine fitted with a beautiful 972 cc four cylinder engine, overhead camshaft and twin carburettors opened to road to more sporting models. 1933 saw the introduction of the Singer Nine Sports with lowered frame,  four speed gearbox, friction shock dampers and hydraulic brakes which made the Singer a MG rival.
A specially prepared Singer Nine was brought into competition at Le Mans in the year 1933. The car finished 13th. overall. Since that glorious day the Singer Nine 'Speed specials' were named Le Mans Speed specials.

Sales information

Singer Nine Sports, year 1934. Colour red with a polished aluminium hood. Red interior, black floor boards and black tonneau cover. This beautiful Singer Nine was sold new in the UK. The last British owner used the car for trials and hill-climbs. In the year 2005 the automobile was partly restored. This Singer shows patina and the car is in very good condition. After being imported to the Netherlands the car was serviced by Charles van Lookeren Campagne. This firm also overhauled the engine and the gearbox. The car drives very well and pre war sporty. This Singer comes beautifully documented with history and invoices.
